Sore Groin, ADHD and Frozen Soccer

That describes my day yesterday. I sat at my editing desk working on a wedding video most of the day. At times I stood and walked around the house to give my groin a rest. Let me explain. I had a heart cath Tuesday, and they go in through the groin (front of the hip area). Everything was fine with the cath (see the blog entitled "Authentic Community"), but the doctor's orders are to not sit too long and not stand too long, because of the bending of that area and the soreness that may ensue. It has ensued, let me tell ya.

In the other room(s) of the house, Cameron was struggling. Struggling with the symptoms and effects of both the ADHD and the drug he is currently on. I hate drugs. I really do. But we just don't know the answer at this point. Well, we haven't known the answer for 12 years now. Off the drugs... not good. On the drugs... not good, in a different way. Counseling... hasn't worked. Natural diet... didn't really notice any difference. We'd like to try this new bio-feedback therapy, but too expensive and the closest clinic is in Atlanta (2 1/2 hours a way).

What to do... what to do...

Then last evening, all three boys had their first soccer practice of the season, on three different teams. It is Christopher's first outing with any sports team. It is so neat at that age (4), especially with 6 or 7 of us Dads out there on the field, herding them like sheep. It's a lot of fun. But very cold last night... about 36 degrees for 2 hours!

Today is Friday. We are thawing out now. I am sitting here writing this while Karen is preparing for the next segment of home school, Christopher is chasing the cat, Caleb is reading a book, and Cameron is supposedly doing his math work while sitting on the toilet and singing in a maniacal voice one minute, then yelling in anger then next.

  1. I have scientific proof that soccer fields are the coldest places in North America. And a one hour soccer game really lasts two hours. Okay, not really, but I am feeling your pain...
