I'm not really one to make New Years Resolutions, because like most people they end up broken in the first week, or else they never even get off the ground in the first place. However this year I have been inspired by my Pastor to set some goals and come up with some plans.
Sunday morning, Pastor David McKinley set forth a very intentional set of plans and goals for our church in the coming year. It was inspiring to hear his vision. At the end of the service, my mind was flooded with things that need changing in my life. Basically it all comes down to intentionality and persistence.
Here are some things I intend to do...
1.
I intend to lose weight. I've got to come up with a goal and a plan. I have decided that a goal of losing 30 or 40 pounds seems to be unreachable. So I am going to start with baby steps and plan to lose 5 pounds at a time. I'm going to eat less (because I do eat way too much), and I'm going to eat healthier. I really am. Really.
And I'm going to get more active by at least walking around the neighborhood and the track at church, not sitting behind this computer quite as much. I may even join Cameron's karate class (we'll see).
2.
I intend to be a better Father. I will stop yelling and be more soft spoken. I will be more patient and understanding. I will spend more time with the children (collectively and individually). I will listen to them better.
3.
I intend to beef up my prayer life. I will especially be more persistent in praying for my boys.
4.
I intend stop being negative. I will stop complaining so much about things, people, and situations.
5.
I intend to expand my business. I will work harder to guarantee financial peace for my family.
The year 2009 is going to be better in so many ways. It has to be.
